چکیده

Abstract This paper studies how nonlinear distortion is generated in the combination of an inverter-based low-noise amplifier and a passive mixer. The dominant nonlinearity appears to be quadratic $$V_{gs}V_{ds}$$ V gs ds mixing term mixer that first causes low-frequency IM2 then upconverts it IM3. Adding common-mode feedback (CMFB) cancels pseudo-differential structure, hence also reduces IM3 caused by cascaded second order nonlinearities significantly. effect CMFB gain, bandwidth linearity were analyzed, concluded from point view, circuit does not have very wideband since products originate baseband. Finally, takes look at spurious tones rising mixing, extend analysis include actual frequency translation effect.

Improving Linearity of CMOS Variable-gain Amplifier Using Third-order Intermodulation Cancellation Mechanism and Intermodulation Distortion Sinking Techniques

This paper presents an improved linearity variable-gain amplifier (VGA) in 0.18-µm CMOS technology. The linearity improvement is resulted from employing a new combinational technique, which utilizes third-order-intermodulation (IM3) cancellation mechanism using second-order-intermodulation (IM2) injection, and intermodulation distortion (IMD) sinking techniques. The proposed VGA gain cell co...

Thermal Characterisation and Intermodulation Distortion in

The effect of temperature (-25 to 100C) on two-tone Intermodulation Distortion (IMD) characteristics of InGaP/GaAs microwave DHBTs is studied. This is carried out through measurement with the results being compared to a simple analytical technique. The results indicated that varying the temperature has a significant impact on the IMD characteristics. The variations of small signal parameters wi...

On Cuba , Diplomats , Ultrasound , and Intermodulation Distortion

This technical report analyzes how ultrasound could have led to the AP news recordings of metallic sounds reportedly heard by diplomats in Cuba. Beginning with screen shots of the acoustic spectral plots from the AP news, we reverse engineered ultrasonic signals that could lead to those outcomes as a result of intermodulation distortion and non-linearities of the acoustic transmission medium. W...

Linear-Nonlinear Interaction and Passive Intermodulation Distortion

This paper describes several consequences of a linear–nonlinear interaction that was recently found to be of importance in microwave circuits that produce passive intermodulation (PIM) distortion. This paper briefly discusses how this linear–nonlinear interaction operates in an example system. It then discusses how an understanding of the linear–nonlinear interaction allows us to distinguish be...
